Seawater desalination

At Besan Enerji İnşaat, in a world where water is becoming increasingly precious, we transform even the most challenging resources into fresh water using sustainable methods. From massive facilities with a daily capacity of 40,000 m³ to industrial solutions, as seen in our Libya project, we put engineering and technology at the service of water.

(Desalination) Systems

We are establishing fully integrated facilities that convert seawater into drinking and usable water with high efficiency.

Reverse Osmosis (RO): With RO, the most modern purification technology, we remove 99.8% of salts and harmful minerals from seawater by passing it through semi-permeable membranes under high pressure.

Thermal Distillation (MSF & MED): In projects where energy recovery is a priority, we offer traditional and reliable distillation solutions based on the principle of evaporating and condensing water.

Our Process and Treatment Stages

We maintain complete control at every stage, from the extraction of raw water from its source to its delivery to the end user:

  • Pre-Treatment: We extend the life of membranes and remove turbidity using sand filters, cartridge filters, and chemical dosing systems.
  • Main Treatment Unit: We perform the desalination process using high-pressure pumps and advanced membrane arrays.
  • Post-Treatment: We adjust the pH balance of the treated water and add essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium to produce drinking water that meets World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Energy Integrated Facility Solutions

We solve the energy consumption, which is the biggest cost item of our wastewater treatment plants, with power plants (up to 8 MW capacity) that operate integrated with the facilities. Thanks to our facilities that generate their own energy:

Wastewater treatment

At Besan Enerji İnşaat, we base our wastewater management, a critical infrastructure component of modern urbanism, on the “Classical Activated Sludge Process” and “Energy Recovery” disciplines applied in Turkey’s largest facilities. In our projects, which reach capacities of hundreds of thousands of cubic meters per day, we combine environmental sustainability with technological efficiency.

Mechanical and Pre-Treatment Units

In the first and most critical stage of the treatment process, we apply advanced mechanical solutions to protect the operational life of the system and ensure the suitability of the water for treatment:

  • Automatic Screening Systems: Separation of solid waste in the water with fully automatic systems using coarse and fine screens.
  • Sand and Oil Separator Ponds: Removal of substances such as sand, grease, and oil that can harm aerobic processes with high precision.
  • Corrosion Control (Dosing): Installation of chemical dosing units that reduce Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) levels to protect biogas systems.
Biological Treatment and Sedimentation Processes

We minimize the organic load of water by managing natural processes with engineering precision:

  • Pre-Sedimentation: Circular pool systems where suspended solids are treated by up to 70% and biological oxygen demand (BOD) by up to 30%.
  • Activated Sludge and Aeration: Stabilization of dissolved organic matter through microorganisms. Optimal oxygen transfer and continuous mixing with surface aerators.
  • Final Sedimentation: Separation of treated water from sludge to bring it to discharge standards into the receiving environment.
Sludge Analyze and Energy Production from Biogas

At Besan Enerji İnşaat, we differentiate ourselves by transforming the wastewater treatment process into an energy source:

  • Anaerobic Digestion: Biological decomposition of wastewater sludge at 35°C in an oxygen-free environment.
  • Biogas Power Plant: Conversion of high-methane gas released in digestion tanks into electrical energy.
  • Energy Self-Sufficiency: Projects with a low carbon footprint that meet 80-85% of their electricity needs from their own biogas production.

Sludge Dewatering and Final Disposal

We manage the volume of by-products generated after treatment with advanced technology:

  • Centrifugal Decanter Systems: High-speed dewatering technologies that increase the dry matter content in the sludge to levels of 30%.
  • Efficient Recycling: Zero loss principle by returning the filtered water back into the treatment cycle.
